They have videos to show you what it looks like on an actual guitar, so that really helps.
ROCKSMITH 2014 REDDIT HOW TO
So I started watching the basic tutorials, like how to hold a pick, strumming, and then eventually the chords lesson. Anything from "Chords 101" to bends to advanced tapping. They have lessons on a whole bunch of different techniques to learn while playing. So I backed out of the song, then went to the "Lessons" section of the game. Not too much trouble for just one, but I did have issues switching between them. A few more playthroughs and I was beginning to see a lot more notes. It stated off slow with just a few notes, but I quickly got the hang of it and it automatically scaled up the difficulty. The best part about learn a song was that the different sections of the song scales with what you're able to play. The game has a tuner that helps you tune the guitar easily for whatever song you're going to play. First song I tried was "R U Mine" by the Arctic Monkeys.
ROCKSMITH 2014 REDDIT PC
I installed the game (got the PC version), and immediately jumped into "Learn a Song". Now I don't know if this had any influence, but I had been playing Guitar Hero for many years and I think that that may have improved my rhythm a lot, but I'm not sure. I got the game in Late December (Christmas present, thanks mom and dad!) and my brother already had a guitar that he said I could use, so I immediately jumped into.Īll i knew about guitar at that point was how to strum and hold down notes. Just get a nice cheap one you're comfortable playing and you'll be set for a good long time. Not sure if Rocksmith teaches you tablature but you really need to know it.ĭon't forget you can use any guitar on it, one of the guitars I have (excluding my bass) is a really cheap Fender Squier that I bought from a friend for £25 5 years ago and that works perfectly fine, I would very much recommend you do not spend a lot of money on your first guitar - ESPECIALLY not one which you'll mostly be using for Rocksmith anyway. Basic idea is x number on x line = that fret on that string, with things like slides/hammer-ons etc. Oh, also you HAVE to learn to read tablature if you wanna play anything outside of the game, though it isn't that hard so shouldn't take you too long. Learn to play with Rocksmith & some online resources and you'll be golden. It's pretty much how most of us taught ourselves to play, but kind of refined. There's minigames for learning chords etc, there's a learning section for learning techniques and chords & there's a "learn a song" section which throws you into a song to try to play it, but you can choose different sections to learn at whatever speed you want. I never learned on it, but I taught myself guitar through practice and playing a lot, while learning different techniques etcīasically that's what Rocksmith does. /r/GamePhysics - Clips of game physics shining and glitchingĭesign based on /r/FlatBlue created by /u/creesch./r/gaming4gamers - middle ground between purely-for-fun and more serious subreddits./r/GamingLeaksAndRumours - Leaks and Rumors.Posting unmarked spoilers will result in removal and warning, and posting spoilers with malicious intent will result in a ban.
